Introduction

The School of Sciences is originated from the Department of Basic Mathematics Teaching, which was renamed School of Sciences in 2009. The school of sciences is a secondary school mainly forcused on teaching,which includes teaching advanced mathematics,engineering mathematics,college physics,college physics experiment and other public basic mathematic courses for engineering,management,arts and other disciplines and majors. The overall orientation of School of Sciences is based on teaching public basic courses of mathematics and science. The professional construction and development of disciplines are taken into account either.

Since the enrollment of the major Mathematics and Applied Mathematics in 2008 and the major Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineeringin 2011, we have made great progress in the professional construction.The Department of Applied Mathematics, The Department of Applied Science, The Teaching and Researching Section of Advanced Mathematics,The Teaching and Researching Section of Physics, Laboratory Center of Physics and General office are set up under the School of Science. There are 91 teaching staffs, 76 of whom are full-time teachers,including 43 Math teachers and 33 Physics teachers. Among these 33 Physics teachers, 8 teachers are professors and 25 teachers are associate professors. The number of teachers who own doctor degree is 53, which take the percentage of 69.7% among full-time teachers. There are 1 Part-time Oriental Scholar, 1 Pujiang Scholar and 2 Yangfan Project. There are 18 master supervisors and 20 graduates. Currently two master programs have been approved: Material Science and Engineering (Preparations and Application of Photoelectric Materials),Control Science and Technology(Intelligent Detection and Sensing Technology).

 The School currently has two undergraduate majors: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and Photoelectric Information Science and Engineering.

  The undergraduate major Mathematics and Applied Mathematics ,which was approved as a Mathematical major in 2007, was set up to adapt to the need of social talents cultivation and the development of school.The major began the enrollment in 2008. Through the professional construction in recent years,the Four-year undergraduate teaching plan of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics has been gradually improved and teaching groups and facilities of the new established major has been equipped. Professional orientation and educational objectives are basically clear. By 2017, five terms of undergraduates have graduated from the major, which owns 507 full-time students. The major has set two directions, which are Financial Mathematics and Computational Science and Statistics.Two applied discipline directions including Financial Mathematics of Applied Mathematics and Differential Equations are created based on major construction. Scientific achievements on this discipline orientation  including National Natural Science Funds, academic papers and University-Enterprise cooperation projects, show the feedback effect of the integration of disciplines and majors as well as disciplines on majors and well support the financial direction based on the major.Therefore this will be the main direction of Applied Mathematics  development.

Standing in Shanghai and facing the Yangtze River delta, the major Photoelectric Information Science and Engineering is specialized in ultivating applied photoelectric elites who master semiconductor lighting technology and optoelectronic detection  technology. We focus on training basic theory, basic experimental methods and skills which should be equipped by Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, as well as cultivating composite applied technical elites who own basic theory and practical ability about semiconductor lighting technology and optoelectronic detection technology, and those who are able to engage in technical research and development, product design, manufacture and application.

Two directions including optoelectronic device and optoelectronic detection are created based on major construction. With the support of school-level key disciplines and collaborative innovation platform, we have cooperated with several companies and several products have realized industrialization.Currently we have signed agreements with many industry companies and set up R&D center,which will well support the major construction.

The  laboratory covers an area of 3,000 square meters and the equipment assets have exceeded 10 million Yuan. There are ten more long-term cooperative production-education-research bases,and 8 school-enterprise joint laboratories. At the same time, we have established cooperative relationships with many universities around the world to carry out programs of visiting and study. The school has three collaborative innovation platforms including LED device collaborative innovation platform, optoelectronic sensor detection system collaborative innovation platform and financial mathematics collaborative innovation platform.

In the past five years, we have won 20 national natural science foundation  Projects,8 provincial and ministerial-level projects,7 alliance projects and 13 horizontal scientific research projects. The total amount of money from government sponsored and enterprise sponsored projects has reached over 12million Yuan. 326 papers have been published by teachers,including 86 SCI/EI papers. Besides, 12 monographs are published and 13 Patents are applied.
