On November 12th, Liu Yonghui, a professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, was invited to give a special lecture titled "Exchange of Experience in Applying for a Master's Degree in Applied Statistics" at the School of Science. Xu Jianqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Science, Xu Xiaoming, Vice Dean of Teaching, Wang Jun, Vice Dean of Research, and representatives of key mathematics teachers participated in the exchange activity.

Professor Liu Yonghui, as a member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Statistics Majors under the Ministry of Education, has accumulated rich practical experience in the application and construction of master's programs. In the lecture, he combined his own school application process and systematically sorted out the key links and precautions for applying for a master's degree in applied statistics. Professor Liu Yonghui emphasized the characteristics and positioning of the application materials, which should not only integrate the disciplinary advantages of universities, but also reflect the development needs of Shanghai. He also selected classic cases of successful applications from many similar universities in China for analysis, interpreted the application indicator system in detail, and conducted in-depth analysis on core elements such as faculty strength, practical teaching bases, and scientific research support capabilities. He also shared specific methods on how to extract disciplinary characteristics and improve supporting materials.

It is reported that the College of Science is actively implementing the reform of public basic courses and improving the cultivation of master's programs in the college. This expert guidance provides important reference for the college to further optimize the application materials and condense the characteristics of disciplines, and has significant guiding significance for improving the quality of application.
