Shanghai Institute of Technology Unveils New Ideas for Talent Cultivation at the Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Subforum of the Pujiang Innovation Forum

    Editor:焦贺丽 Date:2025-09-25

On September 22, the Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Sub-forum of the 2025 Pujiang Innovation Forum opened in Shanghai. At the forum, an agricultural technological achievement developed by Professor Zou Jun's team from our university, which transforms ordinary containers into intelligent "seedling factories," garnered significant attention from attendees. This achievement provides a replicable Shanghai model for addressing the long-standing "seedling shortage" bottleneck in China's agriculture.

The "containerized precision seedling cultivation" showcased in this achievement involves the intelligent transformation of standard containers, integrating multi-layer three-dimensional cultivation systems, LED plant spectra, intelligent water and fertilizer integration, and all-weather environmental control modules, achieving industrialization and standardization of seedling production in a fully controllable environment. In this' micro factory ', whether it is vegetables, fruits, or traditional Chinese medicine seedlings, they can break free from the constraints of natural conditions and achieve year-round, high-density, and high-quality cultivation.

At present, the project achievements have been successfully applied to three demonstration bases in Jiading, Chongming, and Fengxian, providing technical support for the stable supply of high-quality and low-cost vegetables in mega cities. In Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, thousands of miles away, the intelligent container cultivation model has significantly improved the survival rate and strong seedling rate of Chinese herbal medicine seedlings, bringing tangible economic benefits to local farmers and achieving a deep integration of technological innovation and industrial assistance.

From urban farms on the coast of the East China Sea to tens of thousands of acres of forests on the southwestern border, from "one box of green" to "tens of thousands of acres of gold", the "green revolution" nurtured in this "small container" is injecting new momentum into the modernization transformation of Chinese agriculture.
