On November 26-27, 2024, a wonderful academic exchange event was successfully held at our school, attracting the active participation of many teachers and students, injecting new vitality into the academic atmosphere on campus. This event specially invited Professor Zhang Renjie from Indi International University in Malaysia to give a lecture and conduct in-depth academic discussions and exchanges.
Professor Zhang Renjie obtained a PhD in Engineering from the University of Malaya. In the field of electronic engineering, we have obtained certifications as a Professional Engineer (BEM), Chartered Engineer (IET), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPECC), and Professional Technician (MBOT). I have accumulated 16 years of work experience in the field of higher education, covering both undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, Professor Zhang actively participates in cutting-edge engineering research and has published over 100 papers indexed by ISI. Currently, Professor Zhang Renjie serves as the Director of the Sustainable Engineering Solutions Center at Indi International University in Malaysia.
On the morning of the first day of the event, Professor Zhang Renjie first shared his research results and gave a wonderful report on the latest research progress of dark pulse fiber lasers to the teachers and students present. He not only elaborated on the cutting-edge technologies and development trends in the field, but also showcased his latest research results, making complex scientific knowledge easy to understand with his clear and concise explanations.
After the sharing, Professor Zhang had a lively interactive conversation with his classmates, patiently answering their questions, and creating a strong academic atmosphere on site. Subsequently, Professor Zhou and Professor Zhang had in-depth exchanges on relevant research content, constantly sparking new sparks in the collision of ideas. They exchanged many valuable ideas and insights, further broadening their research ideas.
In the afternoon, under the enthusiastic guidance of Professor Zhou and his classmates, Professor Zhang visited the laboratory of the School of Science. Teacher Zhou provided a professional and detailed introduction to various instruments and equipment in the laboratory, demonstrating the strong strength of the School of Science in scientific research hardware facilities. Professor Zhang affirmed the laboratory conditions and discussed with Professor Zhou the potential application of instruments and equipment in related research, laying a solid foundation for future scientific cooperation.
The next morning, Dean Li Yigui of the School of Science personally attended the event. Professor Zhang Renjie continued to share his valuable experience in submitting to journals with teachers and students. In the fiercely competitive publishing industry, understanding how to revise manuscripts is the key to success. This sharing session comprehensively explored the review process from the perspectives of both reviewers and editors. Through interactive discussions and case studies, I gained a deeper understanding of the priority order of reviewers and editors, including clarity, structure, originality, and adherence to submission guidelines, and comprehensively shared my insights and experiences. Dean Li Yigui highly affirmed Professor Zhang Renjie's sharing and emphasized the importance of academic exchange in the development of scientific research in the school. He encouraged teachers and students to actively participate in various academic activities, be brave in innovation, and continuously improve their academic level.
After the sharing, the dean took a group photo with Professor Zhang, Professor Zhou, and classmates to mark the end of this academic exchange activity.
This academic exchange activity is rich in content and diverse in form, which not only promotes deep communication and cooperation between experts and scholars inside and outside the school, but also provides rare learning opportunities for students, broadens their academic horizons, and stimulates their research enthusiasm. The successful completion of the event will have a positive and far-reaching impact on the academic research and talent cultivation of the School of Science, and is expected to promote more innovative achievements in related fields.
