On April 30, Chair of the University Council, Guo Qingsong, led a team to visit School of Science to conduct research talks, the Director of the party office，Sun Jie，General Party Branch Secretary of School of Science，Chen Yong, Deputy Dean（in charge），Li Yigui，and other members of School of Science attended the conference.

On the conference, Li Yigui introduced development and general situations of School of Science in recent years at first, then introduced in detail the present situation of development and future planning of School of Science from the aspects of talent introduction, teaching work, scientific research and discipline construction, student work and party construction work, among others. He especially highlighted that the Party branch of physics teaching staff was selected as the model branch of National Party building work and construction of the first level master program of Applied Mathematics. Chen Yong added two main lines of party construction. One is the inheritance and development of Peilin spirit and consolidation of mathematical foundation to support application technology，the other is General Party branch of School of Science and Haiwan village，Zhelin town regional party building and co-construction work.

Guo Qingsong said that the aspects of building of teaching staff，teaching work and Party construction and so on made a great contribution to Shanghai Institute of Technology，supporting the development of other colleges. Especially in teaching，School of Science bear all teaching work of the public basic courses of math and physics of the whole school，about 400 class hours per capita annually，large quantity and wide range，laborious for teachers. Besides，in party building，the Party branch of physics  teaching staff was selected as the model branch of National Party building work is really not easy，contributing a lot.

Guo Qingsong put an emphasis on that the future development of School of Science should complete the Fourteenth Five Year plan and resign the blueprint for the development of School of Science. Grasp the point，improve the weakness and strengthen the weakness. The first is to highlight the point of work，the third is to strengthen up-market issues，projects such as the application of NSFC，increasing the introduction of high-end talents and the introduction of discipline leaders in particular.

Guo Qingsong highlighted that the two main lines of Party building and business did two jobs at once and attached equal importance to each. He added that the business also well down if the party building is good.
